New haircut!

This strays a little from our healthy conversations on the blog but...I just got a totally different haircut! I chopped a ton of it off so it's above my shoulders now AND i got bangs! They aren't straight across, over to the side. It's so different though and I'm trying to get used to it. I wanted a more angled cut but she did it very bluntly so it kind of looks like a wig :) a cute one, though! goo...i wish you were here to see it and give me some feedback. i really do like it...just trying to get used to it. healthwise i'm doing ok....am going to weigh in tomorrow and report. i stocked my fridge with lots of healthy food - tried to get mostly organic. haven't worked out in a few days because i've been so busy with piano and internship. how have you been doing???

hey hey!

nice job buddy! it sounds like you are doing great! have you been weighing in every day or periodically? i have been going through a serious phase of bloating. much worse than usual so i've been feeling terrible, pms-y, and definitely not wanting to weight myself. it's been getting a little bit better and i've still been eating relatively ok throughout. i did a great workout today and think the bloat is getting a little more under control. i NEED to make sure i'm eating normally every day. with internship starting, i've been not planning very well :( am going to the grocery store tomorrow, though. at least i'm not overeating...if anything, i'm undereating but i know that throws my metabolism off too. goo!! i will weigh in either tomorrow or tuesday and report it. keep up the great work. the card i'm sending you has been sitting next to me on my desk for about 2 weeks now. i'm sure it's doing a great job motivating you from indiana :) i will get that out asap. by the way...how was your BIRTHDAY??? we need to chat. i will check in again tomorrow. keep up the great work buddy! we can do this! OH....i also read a ton of good stuff in my Health magazine and will totally share...there is one article about shedding those "last 10 pounds". it wasn't great but a little helpful! ok...talk to you later!

yipee!

Today I worked so its always pretty hard to eat great when there is whip cream and carbs everywhere I look. I did do really well. I brought my own creamer and had some coffee, just one cup and a bran muffin for breakfast. For lunch I had a veggie burger on a whole wheat bun with some fruit on the side. For dinner I had a veggie burger grilled with cole slaw, watermelon, and a deviled egg. Thats it for today! I feel very motivated. I will check in tomorrow. How are you?

So far so good...

Still at 152 as of this morning. Thats what I was figuring. I did 30 min of Tae Bo this morning has a slim fast for breakfast and some coffee. For lunch I will have a whole wheat bun with a veggie burger and and apple. For dinner its grilled chicken, tomato basil mozzarella salad and mixed veggies. I am feeling very motivated and inspired. How are you?

Here we go!!!

Okay, so I am so ready to get back on track. I did weigh myself this morning and was at 152. Thats not bad considering I haven't been eating great or working out either! I decided to take a different approach on my goals. I would be so thrilled to see 149 since it has been since I was three months pregnant that I have seen that number!! This is my new short term goal. Once I reach that then I can really celebrate and then reevaluate the situation for my next goal. I decided that I should give myself a week and a half to reach my 149 goal....so that would be a week from this Friday or so.
Anyway, I am so glad you had a great trip and are ready to take on your goal again. We can totally do this! I hope we can talk soon but I also know we are both busy and it seems we are missing each other when we try to call. Thats fine because I am always here thinking about you and cheering you on in my head and always hoping you are having wonderful days with wonderful experiences!

Ahem...Let me start this up again!

Ooh...I've been very very bad about checking in! As your voicemail indicated, you have been crazy busy as well. SOO....here we go. I have not weighed myself in a long while...felt OK when I got back from Croatia...very good, actually. Then my stomach got all crazy and I wasn't able to eat anything for a few days. When my appetite did come back, I was craving crap food :) What a surprise! Anyhow...my eating has been pretty terrible. And I've been sick so have not been working out. BUT...today was a nice turn-around. I just worked out for 50 minutes, did some abs, and have eaten quite well. I had a banana pancake for breakfast, have been drinking a lot of water, had leftover pad thai for lunch, and am making a light tuna salad and fresh tomato bruschetta for dinner. Maybe salad, too. I'm turning it on around!!! I am going to give you a buzz tomorrow. Hope you are doing super and have gotten back on track! Miss you!

Hiya!!!

Sounds like you are doing great! i am so curious to see what i weigh when i get back. the food we are eating is not all that healthy BUT i am walking an insane amount here. and sweating like a pig from the heat....i should be shedding pounds in light of all the sweat im producing! so how is the homefront?? anything else new? my legs are feeling a little more toned...not surprising. it is incredibly hard not to form a complex here. seriously, almost every woman here is 6 foot and totally gorgeous with these long, perfectly toned legs. im not kidding...its almost a little freaky. anyhow...though ive been walking everywhere i feel like a midget troll next to all of these european women! crazy crazy! id better run...i think im going to try and get a facial! never had one before. keep up the great work! i will check in again tomorrow. miss you!

Europe rocks!!

Thats great that you are walking everywhere! How fun. How is the weather. It is HOT HOT HOT here!! In the upper 90's low 100's! Its like that in a lot of the 'states' as they say in Euro. I have been continuing to do well. I was back down to 152 and I hope to see 151 or 150 by the weekend. We will see. I miss you and I hope you have a terrific day! ps how is Tim feeling?

sorry this will be short....great job on your eating and working out! it IS cool that i can correspond all the way from croatia. i have never walked so much in my life. seriously....it is a constant workout. up hundreds of stairs multiple times a day. crazy. no wonder all of the women have incredible bodies over here! the eating is not going too badly, either. with all of the walking, im sure its being burned! the gelato is amazing. good luck and i will write again soon. miss you!! keep up the excellent work! and give kisses to stevie!

Oh my gosh! How cool that we can correspond from so far away! I am so glad you are having a great time. How was the plane ride, by the way? Were you knocked out? I am also glad to hear you have oppertunities to be active. I am sure that is making you feel really good. Its always so hard to stay on track on vacation, but it sounds like you're doing great. Hello from Croatia!!!!

How awesome! I have free internet access at our hotel! Dont worry about a few bad days, my friend. We just cant beat ourselves up about some off days...get back on the horse the next day! I have been walking a ton here...actually got up and worked out in the gym this morning with Sarah. So I am actually feeling quite great thus far. Due to very limited cash flow, i have also been watching what i eat. I feel like this is going to be a very healthy vacation...for the most part. where are you going for your mission trip? that sounds awesome! keep up the good work my buddy....we can totally do this. Im so excited that i can check in now! funny about your dream....tim actually couldnt go on time with us due to terrible ear infections. so sarah and i flew in together yesterday and just picked up tim a few hours ago. i cant wait to tell you all about it...it is amazing here so far. so much roman architecture and beauty. i love europe so much! ok...do great today! im thinking about you!

Not so good..

Hey yesterday and today have not been great. I haven't weighed myself either days but I will tomorrow morning and start my week off well. I leave on a missions trip on Friday and my goal is to be back down to 150 by then or even 149! Wouldn't that be great. I had this weird dream that you decided at the airport that you weren't going to go on the trip. You thought you had too much to do back at home...weird! I hope you are having a great time.!!

Ta ta for now!

h y buddy! i'm glad you've been doing so well and feeling better! don't worry about the scale...it will come down - the more important thing is how you feel. honestly - the less weight you have to lose, the harder it is to get that off! frustrating but kind of relieving that we only have about 10 pounds to lose! keep up the awesome work...i KNOW you can do it. i checked out the hotels we'll be staying at. all of them have workout rooms so i'm going to try and hit those while i'm there...at least a few times :) if i can find internet access, i will definitely check in. won't be able to weigh-in but i'll give you a little report on how i'm doing. i can't wait to chat when i get back.

i also got my card today and started laughing out loud (little ab workout there)! and then immediately started crying while reading your message :) thank you so so much - you are so sweet and your card meant more than i could even tell you. i feel blessed every single day that i have you in my life and am so incredibly thankful that our destined roommate situation took place! seriously, i couldn't imagine my life without your friendship. have a wonderful next two weeks....keep up the GREAT work. miss you already!

Sooory..

So I forgot yesterday when we talked that I was working today. I get up uber early and I got pretty busy once I got home from work. I feel really good and I did so good yesterday, but that didn't really show on the scale I still weigh 153. It hasn't moved. Its frustrating but I did so well yesterday that I know its gotta be water or something. I didn't do bad today, but I didn't do great. Congratulations on the 131/possibly 130 mark!!!! I am so excited for you that you get to travel to a far away land tomorrow. I hope it is a safe, healthy and fun trip and you come back with lots of new and exciting stories and experiences. I will keep bloggin away while you are gone. I hope I lose something significant by the time you get back...we'll see...

Good Morning!!!

And a good morning it is! I weigh a solid 131...maybe 130. It is so hard to tell on my scale! The little tic marks are so small and I nearly have to cross my eyes to see them. I did feel good about yesterday, though. SO...I have gone done a little bit in weight. Today should be a good eating day...I'm going to a pyrogi festival with Andy tonight but don't really even like pyrogis so should be good. I'm going to try very hard to get my workout in (just a walk and situps) but I have so much to do before I leave tomorrow morning! I can't believe I'm leaving already! Twilight Walk....

I am just getting ready to go on my walk! Today was actually my day off but I'm feeling rather motivated and it is gorgeous out...like 71 degrees. Perfect for a walk. My eating has not been too shabby, either. I, too, am curious as to what the scale will tell tomorrow. Great job on eating and exercising today, Ang!! How is Susie doing, by the way? I haven't checked into her blog in a while. I'm a gonna hit the sidewalk now before I lose my motivation :) I will check in bright and early tomorrow morning. Talk to you then!

Not Baaad!

So I feel pretty good about today:) I took a good 30 min. power walk this morning and one this evening with Tony too. I also did my strength training and ab workouts as well. My eating went well too. I hope I see some results on the scale tomorrow morning! That would be motivating!!

Rough night...

So dinner for me didn't go as planned. I went out to dinner with a friend. She wanted to take me to a Mexican place which is always hard with the giant tortilla chip basket and endless guac!!! So good though. I will just pick right back up with it all tomorrow and do great. How was your dinner? What did Patti make? Something delicious I am sure....

Oh Dinner...

Yesterday was going fabulously until.....dinner! Krista and I cooked for our friends Toni and Matt as a little going away dinner. The meal wasn't too unhealthy...just the appetizer grazings! We had chips and homemade salsa, salad with apples, nuts, cheese, and homemade dressing (not too unhealthy, actually), thanksgiving in a pan (mmm:), and then strawberries with cream cheese fruit dip and poundcake for dessert. so...hmmm...lots of food. choices were not terrible bad but the quantity was not good at all.

Today I am going to do my 30 minute cardio, strength training, and abs. My workouts have been going well..just the eating. OK...for menu today: coffee, raisin bran with skim, water and blueberries (snack), soup for lunch, and...dinner will be interesting. I'm going to my parents' house for "So You Think You Can Dance" party...I will have to be very careful with portion sizes! Thanks for uploading those pictures on the blogsite! I can't wait until our "afters" are up. Good luck today...I know you'll do great!!!

Getting a little better...

Haay! How did your day end yesterday? I hope today is a good one for you.....
So I lost 1/2 pound. I know I could have done better but we went out and I tried to be good, too good... then I got hungry and had a large bowl of cereal last night. It was a great menu yesterday for weight mantianence, but not so much for weight loss. I will try again today but my friend and I are going out to dinner tonight, so hopefully I will find something healthy, like a salad, to eat. Here's my plan for the day:

Sweet cream!

Yay! You found the sweet cream. I enjoy my daily cup of coffee and ISC, thats for sure. Today was pretty good. I followed my food plan for breakfast and lunch. For the rest of the day...

SNACK:
a fiber one oatmeal bar and a handfull of goldfish

DINNER:
1/2 grilled chicken wrap with lettuce and tomato with light ranch dip on the side

SNACK:
bowl of honey bunches of oats with skim milk

I did my workout and it definetly felt good to get it done. I just wish I really enjoyed working out. I miss going to the gym with friends and walking on the treadmill or eliptical. It was nice to get out because it felt like an event and not just forced time in front of the TV...thats the only option I have since Tony is gone a lot. Blaa! I am interested to see what the scale says tomorrow but I also know I can't live and die by that.. I have to go by what I feel and that comes from eating right and excersizing! Right?! Goobers

You can do it, Ang! Think of how great you will feel after you workout...it IS incredibly hard to get up the motivation...particularly when you are already active all day with Stevie. So here's my update...on many things...I FINALLY found the Italian sweet cream last night and bought 3 bottles :) It was bordering on pathetic - I actually went in to 4 grocery stores one day with the sole intention of finding this creamer. I almost peed myself when I found it last night (Andy thought I was insane) - I am actually brewing coffee as I type so I can drink it! My little plan has been very frustrating in that I FEEL much better and that I'm doing well but my stupid scale is putting me at 133. Up from the 131 I weighed the day I got back from Iowa...it's so annoying because I feel like I'm doing well. Grrrr....so Sunday I ate very well and walked around the Chicago Zoo for almost 5 hours. Talk about a good workout. Yesterday I had yogurt and blueberries, noodle soup, water, one beer, and then veggie pasta (zucchini, yellow and red peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, onion, tomoato) and salad for dinner. The only bad part about the pasta was the sauce - alfredo sauce - but we used moderate amounts. And I did a great workout yesterday - abs, 45 minutes of cardio, squats, and pushups. What the dillio? I'm trying not to get frustrated at the lack of weight I'm dropping because I really am feeling better but....you know how it is! I'm going to call you today so we can chat. Miss you! Have a great workout today! BTW...my coffee is AMAZING!

So I have started my day off pretty good. I had a spinach shake for breakfast and am now having a late morning coffee drink with Italian sweet cream..YUM! Did you find any yet? Holly said she is looking for it everywhere too and thinks it is working its way over from the West coast areas. Hope it gets to you soon! Anyway, I do plan on walking today and I need to do my workout too. I should be doing it now since Steve is alseep but its nice just to sit down for the first time this morning and have some coffee. OHHH MY!

Okay, so I did really well with eating on Thursday! I didn't get a chance to work out but we did a lot of walking around the amusement park on Thursday and Friday. Friday eating was pretty good, however Sat. and today was not what I call great. I weighed in at 152 this morning but I think it will be no problem to get back to where I was before. I have been stuck at 150-152 for weeks now. It has been hard to break it and get back into the 140's. I am dying to get to 149 so that can jump start my motivation to get down to 140!!! I am exciting to start the week fresh and get back to some serious calorie burning workouts this week.

Fri-dee

Hey there! It's actually Saturday so I'll do a double-entry. Yesterday went quite well! I did a nice workout...situps, lower body toning, pushups, and 45 minutes of cardio. It felt very good. Eating was also quite good....plain bagel with plain cream cheese, tomato, and basil for breakfast (and iced green tea...mmmmm!); lunch was only 1/2 a pita and hummus + water. My roommate was super cleaning the kitchen so I felt bad making a mess with cooking! For dinner, Andy and I went out with his dad and I ordered tilapia with rice and fresh veggies. This is some seriously good eating for me. Usually when I got out to eat I get horrible things :).

Today - Saturday - my off-day workout; I had homemade strawberry and banana pancakes (So good!) with coffee. Had lots of water at work, and just ate a tuna sandwich with chicken noodle soup. plus a little piece of birthday cake :) I feel so full! I do think I'm a little on the bloated side at present because, typically, I wouldn't feel this gigantic after not eating much. My stomach feels like I stuffed a balloon in it! I hope your trip is going great - can't wait to read your blogs! I'm sending your goodies either tomorrow or Monday! Good eating!

Hidey Ho!

Just checking in....today was my workout day off so I don't have much to report there. I did some more painting tonight so that was pseudo-workout. I actually ate quite well today! I had a hard-boiled egg with my coffee this morning (I needed a lot of coffee today...very little sleep and incredibly long work day - I taught piano for 8 hours!!). Rather than stopping for fast food, I grabbed some 100 calorie snack packs from my parents' house and had a few of those. Whole wheat pizza flavored crackers, little low-fat blueberry muffins, and a little bag of popcorn. I drank water and coffee at work and had a Jimmy Johns sub (turkey) for dinner. That's it! I'm feeling a bit rotund as I write this but perhaps I'm just bloated. Boo. Ok...ta ta for now. I hope you are having a splendid road trip and eating lots of healthy things. Give Stevie a big kiss for me! I'll write and weigh-in tomorrow. Bye!!!

Steak and potatoes...oh my!

Your meals today are to be envied! Nice job, buddy! Good luck with your travels, too....I know you can do it. Just think about how much better you will feel eating lighter and healthier as opposed to snarfing down a BK chicken sandwich and cheese munchies :) My tummy was not feeling so hot after that. SO....today wasn't a total bust but wasn't as great as it could be. I have to say...I'm doing much better with portion control. Breakfast was yogurt and OJ, water for snack, lunch was grilled cheese (low-fat) and tomato soup (and water). For dinner...I ate with Andy's family and we had steak and potatoes. I did, however, only take small servings. For my workout...this was also altered a bit. My day got unexpectedly busy but I was able to fit in a number of activities...walked to and from my hair appointment (20 minutes), swam for about 20 minutes, and then painted for an hour and a half. Painting actually caused a good sweat! So that's my check-in! I would definitely like to do a little better but am not entirely unhappy with my progress. I'm actually feeling better! Congrats on the excellent job that you're doing, Ang! And good luck with the road trip. I can't wait to hear how it went. I'll be blogging in while you're away. Miss you already!!

HELLO! So today is still going very well. For breakfast I had a waffle and coffee (2 cups) then for lunch I had a handful of raisins, a spinach smoothie and two slices of low-cal whole grain bread with spray butter. Delicious! I will be gone the next three days so I may not be able to blog for a little while but I still expect you to blog your meals:) I will check in with you when I get back. I am a little nervous about traveling food..EEEEK! I do however have a great example (YOU) since you did so well on your trip. Have a great day!

Twin Pounds!!

Well, well, well....I went out and bought a scale today. Unfortunately, very cheap so I'm hoping that it will be accurate. I also went to 3 places in search of the Italian Sweet Cream with no luck :( Not giving up, though! Anywho....I weighed in this morning at 132! So we've both lost 2 pounds! I really do feel pretty good about what I ate yesterday. I will also be getting YOUR rewards together today or Friday! This is so exciting! I'm getting my hair done this afternoon and am planning on working out after. Right now, I'm going to eat some breakfast (haven't had my coffee yet, though I'm dying for it!). I'm on a late start b/c I slept in and ran to get my scale first thing. I'll check in again later. Have a wonderfully healthy and 45 minutes of cardio-filled day, Ang!

Okay, so yesterday didn't go as well as I would have liked. I waited until after Stevie went to bed to get my workout in (although I did take a 20 min. power walk with him before he went to bed) but I didn't end up doing my whole cardio routine because I got a lot of drama filled calls last night and was on the phone for a good portion of my evening. I did however eat really well and that paid off becuase I weighed in at 151 this morning!! I am looking forward to another good day with a full workout..I am getting ready to do my 45 min. cardio here as soon as Steve goes down for a nap.....I am so proud of your travel eating..think of the hundreds of bad food options you had and you turned them all down! (nuggets from wendy's aren't that bad:) Good luck today Nico! I will be getting your first couple pound incentives ready for mailing soon too! Blog atcha later...

oooooh boy.

Traveling kind of stinks for feeling healthy! I did not, however, do too terribly. Ang...I'm reporting in on my food intake. I stopped for Subway...got a 6 inch turkey on wheat with lots of veggies. Also had Sun Chips and water. My snack on the way home was a small pack of cashews, more water, and an iced tea. THEN...I got too hungry for dinner so I stopped at Wendys BUT only got a little 5-piece nugget. So not fantastic but not too terrible, either. I'll be weighing in on Jen's scale tomorrow and starting my workout bright and early in the morning. I'm so very happy we are doing this and just know that we are going to be successful! I'd better start writing your reward for pound #1 right now! That's all for now. Miss you already, Ang! Will check in again tomorrow. Tootles!

Day One

We've started off our Heiney Heist with a BANG. Breakfast consisted of whole wheat blueberry waffles, yogurt, juice, and a moderate amount of coffee. I think we've each lost 10 pounds already. We also weighed in this morning to see the actual amount that we're working with.

Nic: 134lbs. Goal: lose 14 lbs to reach 120 lbs.

Ang: 153lbs. Goal: lose 13 lbs. to reach 140lbs.

Goal is to lose approximately 2 lbs per week. We will both reach our goals by August 23, 2008.

New Beginnings

I hate August Rush. And Ang and Nicolette are on a quest to lose 10 pounds. To get healthy and look good in our "skinny" jeans. Let's be honest here.
